"And I (Allâh) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone)."
Quran 51: 56
TAWHEED is to direct one's worship solely to the One Creator Who chose for Himself the name Allah.
(Allah comes from two Arabic words joined together: AL=The & illah= One worshiped).
Allah is the only One worthy of worship because He is the only One Who Created and sustains ALL OF CREATION. Meaning:
1. He knew of everything that would be created before it was created.
2. Then He ordered it to be written prior to it's creation.
3. Then He willed it to be created before its creation.
4. Then He created it (through various means).
NOTE: Allah is genderless and exists ABOVE His creation and NOT within it nor is He the sum of all of His creation or existing as a Trinity. He is unique and unlike anything we can imagine. See Quran: 112
ALL prophets and messengers including Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad sw. Submitted to Allah with Tawheed. This Submission is Called ISLAM and the one who submits in this manner is called a MUSLIM. Therefore all prophets and messengers were muslim by definition, including Abraham, Moses and Jesus (may Allah be pleased with them all).
Prophets can only be followed in their respective times and the prophet of our time, until the end of time (which is near), is Prophet Muhammad ibn Abdullah from the tribe of Quraish, from Mecca over 1447 years ago (sw).
The pillars of Islam with which prophet Muhammad (sw) came with are five:
Shahadha= Testimony of faith (To believe in the Heart and testify upon the tongue that there is NOTHING or NO ONE worthy of worship BUT ALLAH ALONE and that Prophet Muhammad (sw) is His final messenger.
Salah = Five daily prayers
Zakat = Annual Religious Tax (estimated at 2.5% of designated taxable items which exceed the Islamic poverty level (Nisab) so as to be given to the poor.
Sawm = Fasting the month of Ramadan
Hajj = Pilgrimage to Mecca.
If You're ready to accept Islam DON'T WAIT! Simply testify your faith, out loud (but quietly to yourself if need be) to become Muslim. That's all it takes to enter into Islam. After this take a bath and begin your five daily prayers.
