What is ISLAM ?

The core belief of Islam is Tawheed. Tawheed is what ALL humans are born instinctively knowing, which is that we have ONE Creator Who should be worshiped ALONE. When we diverge from this our hearts become sick, negatively affecting homes and society alike. As a favor to mankind our Creator sent Messengers with revelation to every people calling them BACK to worshiping Him* alone as this is what we were created for. God says "and I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship me." (Quran 51:56).

Proof that man was created to worship God can be found in man's natural instinct to believe in God as witnessed all over the world, even amongst tribes that had no contact with the outside world. The vast majority of these tribal nations had a central creator God and smaller man made gods that they wrongfully prayed to. So prophets were sent to these various nations calling them back to worshiping God alone.

The last Prophet sent, this time to ALL OF MANKIND and the one we are to follow today, is Prophet Muhammad from Mecca from over 1,445 years ago (sw). The revelation he received is called the Quran (the speech of God) and the Sunnah ( how he lived & taught the Quran). The Quran and Sunnah TOGETHER is ISLAM which means to submit to God. ALL Prophets including Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad practiced ISLAM, were MUSLIMS and called their nation to worship God ALONE (Tawheed).

*The name that God chose for Himself is Allah. Allah comes from two arabic words: AL= The & ILLAH = One worshiped. Brought together they spell Allah and mean The One Worshiped. Allah is The ONLY ONE worthy of worship in Truth because He is the ONLY originator and therefore CREATOR of ALL that exists.
